Attire

MTHS Music Boosters frequently gets asked, “What should my kid wear to a the concert?” Here is the thing, we’re not really in charge of that, but we want to be helpful. So this page tries to provide some overview and visuals to help decide on concert attire for families.

Please note that directors may have additional details for specific concerts, below we describe the standard forms of dress for each group.

Chamber Winds and Symphonic Band

Men – Black suit, white tux shirt and black bow tie. Additional jackets may be available in the closet at the school – check with an MTHS Music Boosters board member.

Women – Can either wear the same as the men (black dress pants with white shirt and suit jacket), a black dress that has straps that are 2” wide or more, or that has sleeves (no spaghetti straps or sleeveless), or a black skirt with a black blouse. Dresses/skirts should be below the knee, as musicians sit above the audience when they are on stage. No leggings (dress pants are fine).

Jazz

Women – Can either wear the same as the men (black dress pants with black shirt and suit jacket), a black dress that has straps that are 2” wide or more, or that has sleeves (no spaghetti straps or sleeveless), or a black skirt with a black blouse.
